Construction Update

Royalton VT-14 Bridge Realignment

DATE: Friday, May 10, 2023

TRAFFIC IMPACT: ECI is set to restart work on the Royalton BF 0147(29) project on Monday, May 13th, 2024. Minimal traffic impacts are expected.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: There will be a 21-day closure of VT 14 during the summer, tentatively scheduled from Wednesday, July 10th, until July 31st, 2024. In addition, a 134-hour closure of the local railroad is tentatively scheduled, starting from 6:00 AM on Thursday, July 11th, and ending at 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 16th, 2024. During this period, ECI will be operating around the clock to remove the temporary bridge, excavate for the new bridge, set the remaining precast wingwalls, transport the new bridge from the staging area, rebuild the railroad ballast, install the ties and rail, and finally reopen the railroad. Throughout the remainder of the 21-day VT 14 closure, ECI will wrap up the drainage installation, construct the roadway, set up guardrails and apply the first two lifts of base on VT 14. Although ECI plans to only operate during the daytime hours, the work schedule will include Saturdays and Sundays. Upon reopening, traffic on VT 14 will be directed under the new bridge.

Regional Detour Route: VT Route 14, to VT Route 107 and Interstate 89, back to VT Route 14

LOCATION: Town of Royalton in Windsor County at the New England Central Railroad crossing over VT Route 14. The bridge is located approximately 0.7 miles south of the junction of VT Route 14 and VT Route 107.
